Hike to Rainbow Falls

The headwaters of the San Joaquin River arise here in the eastern Sierra Nevada.  The visitor's center (and parking area with picnic tables and so on) is right next to the river.  It was still pretty early in the morning.

The hike to Rainbow Falls begins more or less at the visitor's center.  It is only a short walk to the postpile itself:

After that the trail runs through stands of trees, many dead from a fire that raced through the area in ?199x? 198x?.
