Vermillion Cliffs, east of Kanab.

Kanab is in the middle of a lot of wilderness, along with just about everything else on US89, which runs along the Seveir Fault.  (Incidentally, that is pronounced like `severe'.  I thought it looked French or something myself and got it wrong.)  It is known as the `gateway to the north rim of the Grand Canyon', although I was headed for Page, AZ instead.  While passing through in the late afternoon on the first day, I saw a sign for the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, so I stopped there on the second day and took kitty pictures.  I also took a few shots of the Vermillion Cliffs (part of the Escalante/Grand Staircase National Monument) while I was passing through, but most of them did not turn out well.
